Getting an Irish PPS number
The Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) is a unique reference number to help you access welfare benefits, public services and information in Ireland.
The first step is to go to the following link.
Create an account on MyGovID – MyWelfare in order to apply for the PPSN.
Fill in the form with the required information and create your account. Once you have completed all the details, return to the link above and click “Request now”.
As always, please read the information carefully.
It’s important to have the necessary documents with you to complete the application/form.
- Proof of identity (passport photo)
- Proof of address (ISI PPS letter/medical Insurance)
- Proof that you need a PPSN (letter/document to request at work)
Your steps will be
- Click on “Starting employment”.
- Enter your personal details.
- Attach proof of address (this is your medical incurance. Request yours here.)
- Attach proof of identity (this is your passport photo).
- Attach proof of employment (this is the letter from the manager/workplace of the place where you are working).
- Check that the information you have entered is correct before you officially submit your application.
Once you have completed and submitted your application, you can then wait for your documents to arrive at the address where you live in Ireland.
