OPENING AN IRISH BANK ACCOUNT
The account is called a Current Account and not a student account.
To open an account, you will need:
- ISI Dublin Acceptance Letter (ask ISI Dublin reception)
- ISI Dublin Bank Letter (ask ISI Dublin reception)
- Proof of address (you can use your medical insurance policy as proof of address, ask at ISI Dublin in reception, otherwise it can be an Utility Bill from where you are renting. However, note that you cannot use the address of a host family arranged from the school without their written permission)
- Your passport
Irish Banks:
Most students can opt to open an Irish Bank Account between traditional high-street banks (like AIB or Bank of Ireland) or digital banks (like Revolut).
- Traditional Banks: Require a “Bank Letter” from ISI Dublin confirming your enrolment and Irish address, plus your passport. You may need to book an in-person appointment.
- Digital Banks: Often faster and can be set up via an app. You will need your passport and, in some cases, your PPS number or IRP card.
